Styleitaliano together with Komet has developed a system of burs that consist of 3 sets, Direct Style, Indirect Style and Finishing Style. The whole project is focused on one main goal, to simplify, and that means, to follow always the same bur protocol following a precise set of instructions that come in a set of plastic cards. More info here or visit Komet

DIRECT STYLE
Direct Style is a set of 10 burs divided into two categories, posteriors and anteriors, the upper row is special for posterior direct restorations (letter P) and the lower row is special for anterior direct restorations (letter A).
The following steps have the same order as the burs, so the clinician is able to follow the exact same order from the burs and from the instructions, very rarely the order needs to be changed.

POSTERIOR DIRECT
Step 1.- High speed carbide bur for amalgam removal
Step 2.- High speed cylindrical diamond bur for cavity configuration
Step 3.- High speed medium grit diamond flame bur for proximal wall opening.
Step 4.- Low speed medium round carbide bur for caries removal.
Step 5.- active-head bur for margin finishing, this bur only cuts in the very end to avoid touching other teeth.
Step 1.- Low speed special ceramic bur for margin detection, the bur will act more on old composite and less on sound tooth.
Step 2.- High speed round diamond bur for quick composite removal
Step 3.- Low speed small round carbide bur for caries and debri removal for cavity cleaning.
Step 4.- High speed medium grit round diamond bur for chamfer preparation, if you don’t use chamfer go directly to step 5.
Step 5.- High speed multi-blade straight bur for beveling, if you do not use bevel, stop in step 4.
Direct Style set consists of 10 burs and two plastic cards, one for the clinician and the other for the assistant and re-ordering.

INDIRECT STYLE
Indirect Style is a set of 8 burs divided into two categories, Overlays and Veneers, the upper row is special for posterior indirect restorations (letter O – “Onlay-Overlay”) and the lower row is special for anterior indirect restorations (letter V – “Veneer”).
INDIRECT POSTERIORS
Step 1.- Tronco conical, flat-end, rounded edges thick high speed diamond bur for cusp removal (2mm).
Step 2.- Low speed big carbide round bur for caries removal before IDS and build up.
Step 3.- active-head bur for margin finishing, this bur only cuts in the very end to avoid touching other teeth.
Step 4.- Fine grit diamond bur for fine preparations and smoothening.
Step 1.- High speed cylindrical round-ended diamond bur for incisal preparation (1,5 mm)
Step 2.- Anatomical depth determination bur, 0,5
Step 3.- Coarse diamond cylindrical chamfer-end bur for veneer gross preparation
Step 4.- Medium grit diamond cylindrical chamfer-end bur for veneer fine preparation and prep finishing.
Inirect Style set consists of 8 burs and two plastic cards, one for the clinician and the other for the assistant and re-ordering.

FINISHING STYLE
Finishing Style is a set of 6 burs, burs 1 and 2 are for posteriors, the 3, 4 and 5 are for anteriors and the last bur is for corrections.
FINISHING POSTERIORS
Step 1.- Low speed multi-blade round bur for occlusal adjustments. This bur may also be used for secondary anatomy development in anteriors.
Step 2.- High speed multi-blade point bur, to finish, smoothen and remove excess from margins
Step 3.- High speed medium grit diamond football bur, for palatal finishng and occlusion adjustment in anteriors.
Step 4.- Low speed flame diamond bur for finishing, smoothening and shape configuration in anteriors. This bur provides extra control during finishing and is suggested to use with very low speed and without water.
Step 5.- Fine Multi-blade carbide bur for fine finishing.
Step 6.- Correction bur (0,5mm calibrated)
Finishing Style set consists of 6 burs and two plastic cards, one for the clinician and the other for the assistant and re-ordering.
